I’m glad you’re here. I’m Dr. Jacqueline Smyth, and I want to hear your whole story – not just a list of symptoms. When you come to me, we slow down. There’s no rushing through a checklist or handing you a prescription on your way out the door. This is a space that is yours. To say the things you haven’t said out loud yet. To be seen. I specialize in the moments that make women's mental health uniquely complex: premenstrual disorders, pregnancy, the postpartum period, perimenopause, and the quiet grief that can come with infertility. If you’re pregnant or breastfeeding and scared about medication, I will walk you through your options honestly and clearly – because your wellbeing matters just as much as your baby's.
My goal is simple: I want you to feel like yourself again. Not a medicated version of yourself. Not a managed version. You. I believe true wellness is about more than the absence of symptoms. It’s about building a life that supports you. That means we talk about all of it: how you are sleeping, how you are moving your body, what you are eating, whether you have the right therapeutic support, and yes, medication too when it makes sense. Not as a shortcut, but as one tool among many. Healing does not always look serious. Sometimes it looks like laughing together at the messiness of it all – and I believe there is real medicine in that.
My commitment to women's reproductive health isn’t something that began in training; it is a thread that has run through my entire career. Nearly a decade ago, I began working in a fertility clinic, where I developed a deep understanding of what reproductive health challenges mean on a human level. That experience shaped the way I see my patients today in ways that textbooks simply cannot. It is also what led me to reproductive psychiatry, where I could address the part of this journey that so often goes unspoken. This commitment extends beyond my practice — in my available time, I volunteer through Postpartum Support International, providing expert consultation to fellow clinicians, because I believe every woman deserves access to high-quality, evidence-based psychiatric treatment, regardless of where she is in her story.
